Summer's Almost Gone!

Well, I'm afraid I have not been very diligent in my blogging duties. The beginning of my summer was consumed with Database Administration and Computer Graphics. Very rough, but wrapped up my CS electives. My project in Graphics class, based on the Battle of Chancellorsville, led me to do some exploring of old Civil War sites.
Then the kids headed off to Oklahoma, leaving me with plenty of time to sit around the house and do homework. Lucky for me, but unfortunate in the timing, the second half of the summer was much more sparing with the homework...and the busy work that can normally be done for classes, well, I just wasn't that into staying busy for busy's sake!
Did have some interesting work in Leadership and Ethics class though, doing my term paper on Operation Redwing based on the account of Marcus Luttrell. Good to finally get around to reading...hard to believe it's been 4 years this summer since it happened.
Reading the page turner got me back to reading, and I mowed through Cushing: Civil War SEAL. If only Naval Officers of the Surface force still had that spirit (and leeway)! Sort of tied the Civil War studies and Naval History together too, so in a way it was sort of a capstone for the summer! Engulfed now in the monster-of-a-book Puzzle Palace about the NSA. A long read, but useful background for the things I'm interested in.
Also got back to racing with my annual Allen Stone Memorial Run Swim Run. Good to be back in the water, and on the pavement...but mostly just good to be back.
Having been so busy the first half of summer that my blogs were neglected, they unfortunately continued to be neglected the second half! Now, however, I hope to be more diligent over the next four months until I commission and am off to bigger and better things...I'm certain to be busy then!
