20 Minutes Tempo

Began with about 10 min stretch.
Treadmill Run 3/Walk 2 x 5
Swim warmup
20 minutes tempo with fins and board = 1025 meters

My Crossfit utility is coming along nicely!

Sweet Jam Session w/ Trey Anastasio & Warren Haynes

Testing embedding. This is a super-cool jam session video Waylon sent me.

Too cool! It works!

If, like me, and not up on Warren Haynes, he's famous for his work with Gov't Mule and Allman Brothers Band. Allman Brothers Band incidentally can take large credit for my return to music. Playing Guitar Hero, I came to appreciate how cool the slide work on "Ramblin' Man" is, so I scurried to Guitar Center to pick up a copy of the Allman Brothers Band Guitar translations. Unfortunately, GC didn't have AB translations! After an hour of scouring Greatest Hits and Fake Books (not to mention tearing my hair out trying to keep the kids under control whilst I undertook this tedious task), I found the Hal Leanord Fake Book. I played Ramblin' Man for all of about a half-hour and got bored. Fortunately, HL's is a treasure trove of great tunes with good enough transcriptions to work with.

If, for some reason you've been circling Mars for the past 15 years (or not, given the nature of the bands grass roots following), you missed Trey Anastasio and Phish inheriting the huge cult following of the Greatful Dead. My first exposure was "Weigh" from the 1993 Rift album. That's all it took to get me hooked, but the whole album is solid.

Happy Birthday Tutus!

Happy #4 to Tutus! For the next 14 days, she'll be the same age as Dev0n. Unfortunately, she has a tummy virus and hasn't been well the past 15 hours or so. She's happy though because we let her wear a "princess dress". Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug and she'll be feeling better toward the end of the day.

End of the Day

Well, it's the end of the day. The grade for 390 posted as a B. It was the one I was worried most about. Hopefully I will hear back about 417 tomorrow...it's the last one. Tomorrow's another day...more working out, tinkering with music and sites, reading my NSA books, cleaning out my bottomless mailbox, ordering books for the upcoming semester, spending time with Mita and the kids, etc. There was something I had to do tomorrow...oh well, Mita will remind me.

I do need to snag the work I did for the CS312 Midterm and the Homework solutions from 471 before all of that stuff becomes unavailable. One of my intents with my webpage is to build pages of information pertaining to courses I've taken for later reference. I also hope to get some work done on XML parsing.

Of course, tomorrow is play night, so there should be some new songs posted shortly. The biggest problem we've been encountering is storage. Music files are large to store, and space "on the cloud", i.e. any place we could safely store it and files to be safely available from the internet is limited. I have to take the Gretsch in tomorrow for a set-up. I developed a dead spot at the 17th fret of the G string. I tried to correct it myself by adjusting the saddle myself, but as could have been predicted, things went from bad to worse! I suppose it will be Stevie Raye Vaughan songs (Crossfire and Pride and Joy), and the much neglected 50s tunes (Since I don't Have You, Sea of Love, and others I've even forgotten the name of!) that get worked on this weekend. Hopefully we can work some more in with the Strat...and maybe even the Epiphone Dot.

I also intend to start posting some pictures using a rotating style and maybe some sound clips for when the page loads. Will continue progressing.

New Blog!

For the benefit of my readership that gets bored reading daily workout data, I've stood up a whole other blog for that! This blog will be general and pertain to family, music, career, and the like.

Thursday

CF rest day. CFE 800m Time Trial=15:24. Alas, my last was 15:11 so no PR today.

No more grades have populated :(

The kids are doing well.

Still fighting with the music management.

Today's Workout

Today's workout was the warmup:
3x15 Squats
3x15-1x10 SU
5x20 PushU
3x15 BE
3x10 PullU
1x15-2x12 Dip

The WOD was clean and jerks, but since I'm not working powerlifts until I recover, I did
2x15 band presses

Then 5 x run 2min/walk 3.

Wow...my back really didn't like something...new rehab rules:
no kippers
no hardsole shoes
no crosstrainers running
no messing with the incline settings on the run!

Past WODs

Yesterday's WOD

Yesterday's WOD was prescribed:
10 rounds:
3 Weighted Pull-ups (45 lbs)
5 dead-hang pull-ups
7 kipping pull-ups

After the warm-up, I realized quickly this wasn't going to work out!
It ended up being
15 rounds:
1 weighted pull up (7.5-15 lbs)
2 dead-hang pull-ups
3 kipping pull-ups

Kipping pull-ups are probably not the best thing with the condition my back is in.

I still wasn't happy, as I wanted to get 20 rounds, so I kept doing pull-ups until I couldn't pull myself to the bar anymore, then did 3x10 pull downs @ 55, 70, 85.

Still wasn't happy...pyramids to 6 and down of push-ups and dips.

Still wasn't happy but was out of time!

However, I did set a new sit and reach PR...got past my fingers (goal is to wrists)!

First Post!

This is the first post on blog-o-chris!
